Broadsheet Melbourne is holding a one-off weekend food and design market behind the Spiegeltent on Johnston Street, Collingwood (near the Keith Haring mural).
Melbourne designers and restaurants – plus an international ice-cream sensation – will converge in a rarely accessible Collingwood space.
New York ice-cream lords OddFellows – who have recently collaborated with Connoisseur – will be serving variations of their world-famous ice-cream sandwiches. The four new flavours of the Connoisseur Brooklyn range – which OddFellows designed – will be served between biscuits made by Tuck Shop Take Away.
Pick up homewares from Arro Home and Alchemy Produx. Indoor plants and seeds for the veggie garden will be available from Cool Cactus and Little Veggie Patch Co. Artist Minna Gilligan will be selling signed copies of her books and a curated selection of her incredible wardrobe and accessories. Alison Turnbull will be selling her books, prints, cards and the like. Kitiya Palaskas, KITSU and Emily Green have your jewellery needs covered. Beautiful leathergoods by Georgie.Cummings will be up for grabs, and Nice Digs will have fashionable collars and leads for your dog.
Melbourne’s favourite Brooklyn-inspired restaurants will be setting up shop for the weekend to make our international guests feel at home.
Bowery to Williamsburg will do a roast turkey club on challah with maple bacon, lettuce, tomato and harissa mayo; beer-braised short ribs and its Reuben sandwich. Shawcross Pizza will serve three styles of pizza by the slice: Fat Tony, U.S.A. Today and the Notorious P.I.G.
Salmon ceviche with chilli, avocado, watermelon and coriander will feature on Nieuw Amsterdam’s menu, alongside fried pickles and a mac ‘n’ cheese waffle. 5 and Dime Bagels will be serving three types of bagels including one topped with bacon, maple and chipotle cream cheese.
The Royal Road Coffee cart will provide the coffee and there will be plenty of tables and chairs for you to enjoy an ice-cream sandwich in the sun.
